If your cat came back with a high kidney value, the answer depends on what pushed it up. Dehydration alone usually corrects completely. A sudden kidney injury sometimes does. Chronic kidney disease usually does not, and holding the numbers steady becomes the goal instead. One situation needs care the same day rather than a recheck. A cat straining in the litter box and passing little or no urine may be blocked, and that is a life-threatening emergency.

The same creatinine number can come from a simply dehydrated cat and from one carrying years of structural kidney damage. Sorting out which one you have is the point of the recheck, and of the urine sample collected alongside the blood.

Kidney values rise for several distinct reasons, and lumping them together is why this question feels so uncertain.
