Dr. Gabriel built Vet Explains to help pet owners understand medical language without replacing the relationship they have with their own veterinarian. The goal is practical clarity: what a symptom may mean, why a test matters, what a result can and cannot prove, and when a pet needs professional care.
His background combines past small animal clinical experience with veterinary diagnostics, biomedical research, laboratory operations, and scientific publication. That mix shapes the voice of Vet Explains: careful with evidence, honest about uncertainty, and written for real people caring for real animals.

Education and research background
Veterinary medicine in Brno
Dr. Gabriel earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Veterinary Sciences in Brno, Czech Republic, where he developed a strong interest in small animal internal medicine and served in academic leadership roles.
Previous clinical work and teaching in Brno
After veterinary school, he worked in a university hospital environment in Brno, Czech Republic, providing internal medicine, emergency, and general veterinary care while also participating in veterinary student teaching. This describes past work, not a current clinical service.
Biomedical sciences at Iowa State University
He moved to the United States for advanced research training, completing a PhD focused on cell biology and stem cell research. His doctoral work included organoid technology and disease modeling in dogs.

His later work has involved experimental disease modeling, laboratory operations, scientific mentorship, and the review and characterization of veterinary medical samples used in diagnostic research and development.
